2012 Valor Golf Tourney Wrap Up

A multi-service color guard started the day presenting the American Flag.

Thank you to the 100-plus golfers who came out to Alvamar on Friday, May 11, to support the first-responders of Douglas County at the Chamber’s second annual Valor Golf Tournament, sponsored by Crown Automotive.

The Valor Golf Tournament presented by Crown Automotive helps to raise money to support the Valor Public Safety Awards, a program that recognizes police, fire and other emergency services workers. Funds raised support the Valor Public Safety Awards scholarships, providing a one-time educational stipend to children of honorees who meet eligibility criteria.

The team of Miles Schnaer, Pat Henderson, Dan McNeely and Wes Lynch came in first place, while Ray Urbanek, Mark Unruh, Lance Flachsbarth and Doug Woods placed second. Dante McGrew and Ginger Wehner each won a round of golf for four at Alvamar for the longest drive (in men’s and women’s categories respectively). Ron Miller won a Callaway golf accessories set for being closest-to the pin, and Douglas County Sheriff Ken McGovern received an iPad 2 for winning the putting contest.

The Valor Public Safety Awards and Scholarship Program is a community-wide program to recognize our first responders. The program was created by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Harry Herington, CEO NIC Inc. The awards are given out at a ceremony in the fall.

2012 Directories Are In!
Operation Thank You Will Deliver May 18

It's here! The 2012 Membership Directory has reached the Chamber offices. They will be hand-delivered to members on Wednesday, May 18, by Chamber staff and member volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to deliver directories, please contact Adam Handshy at 785.865.4427.

New this year, the Chamber will update the directory on a quarterly basis with an addendum. This way, we can make sure all our members are made aware of any email or phone number changes, new members and other updates. If you have an update for our quarterly addendum, please contact Darlene Lantz at 785.865.4411.
