Chamber Honors “Home-Grown” Companies as 2009 Business of the Year Award Recipients

The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Bowersock Mills & Power Company and Free State Brewing Company as the inaugural recipients of the Chamber’s Business of the Year Award Program.

Designed to recognize and celebrate the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of our business community’s leaders, the award is presented annually to two locally-based companies and consists of both a small (1-25 employees) and large (26 or more employees) category.

Bowersock and Free State were selected as the respective winners of this year’s Small and Large Business of the Year awards based on each company’s commitment to the community, unique business practices and local business expansion efforts.

“It is great to see two dynamic businesses, such as Bowersock and Free State, receive this recognition." said Beth Johnson, V.P. of Economic Development at the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. "Both companies have a history of growth and prosperity in Lawrence and both create a significant impact on our economy.”

Business of the Year Award recipients will be honored during the 2010 Lawrence Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Friday, January 29 at the Holiday Inn & Holidome, 200 McDonald Dr.
